Horticultural Therapist

Start Date: January 6, 2025

Compensation: $23.00 to $50.00 per hour

Time commitment: 2-16 Hours per week

Job Description:

We are looking for passionate Horticultural Therapists to join our team in Mississauga, working with older adults in two settings: a vibrant Adult Day Program and a Long-Term Care Facility. In these roles, you’ll use therapeutic gardening to enhance the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of participants, creating engaging, nature-based activities that bring comfort, joy, and a sense of purpose. Whether engaging community-minded clients in day programs or providing ongoing support to residents, you’ll foster a nurturing environment where clients can connect with nature and find fulfillment through gardening.

Qualifications:

-Degree or certification in Horticultural Therapy or a related field.
-Recognized by the Canadian Horticultural Therapy Association with Horticultural Therapist Technician (HTT) or Horticultural Therapist Registered (HTR) credentials
-Experience working with older adults or in a therapeutic setting is preferred.
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

-Develop and implement therapeutic horticulture programs tailored to the needs of older adults.
-Facilitate engaging and inclusive gardening sessions.
-Collaborate with other therapy and care professionals to create a holistic care plan.
-Monitor and document participants’ progress and adapt programs as necessary.
-Maintain and care for the garden space within the facility.
