Therapeutic Garden Assistant

Pay rate: $17.60 per hour

Start date: Early May 2026 (flexible start date)

Timing: Up to 16 weeks contingent on government funding

Summary:

This is an outdoor position for a summer student to assist the Therapeutic Garden Coordinator (who is a Registered Horticultural Therapist) in the Therapeutic Garden. Duties include garden installations and projects, ongoing garden care and lawn care, and some TH programming support in a residential hospice setting. Duties also include assistance with special events and fundraisers and relationship-building with garden volunteers.

Requirements:

Secondary or post-secondary student between the ages of 15-30 years who is eligible to work in Canada. The ability and physical fitness level to safely bend, kneel, lift, carry and engage in other physical work throughout the work day. Experience and interest in gardening and a field of study in social sciences, human services, health care, environmental sciences, education, horticulture or horticultural therapy.
