Volunteer Therapeutic Horticulture Assistant

Time commitment: once a week, 2 hrs, now until October
Purpose of the Role:
The Therapeutic Horticulture Volunteer supports the delivery of horticultural therapy sessions designed to enhance physical, mental, and emotional well-being. This role helps create a nurturing environment where participants can engage with nature to improve relaxation, social connection, and overall wellness.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in preparing and maintaining therapeutic garden spaces and indoor plant areas.
• Support participants during horticultural activities, ensuring safety and comfort.
• Help set up materials for sessions (soil, pots, plants, tools) and clean up afterward.
• Encourage positive engagement and provide gentle guidance during activities.
• Monitor and report any concerns regarding participant well-being to program staff.Required:
• Interest in gardening and wellness practices.
• Compassionate and patient demeanour with strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and follow safety guidelines.
Preferred:
• Experience in horticulture, gardening, or therapeutic programs.
• Knowledge of plant care and basic gardening techniques.
• Training in horticulture therapy
